I am newly installing linux, used windows os for 2 years but I want to switch, I am a student, developer, meen stack, aiml, ds, dl, programming and stuff, what distribution and desktop env would be good for me??
my second distro is arch and my first distro was parrotos it was crazy when i started arch like i first thought it will be easy to install then it took me one whole night to just install it then i realized why arch is known as a hard distro but now i am running a hyperland setup and i have no regrets that i switched to arch.Arch is the best.
After Kubuntu froze on me ever 30 seconds, Manjaro was my next distro. Tried Pop OS but it was too Mac like, same reason I don't use Ubuntu. Currently on Bazzite with plans to move to CachyOS.
Everyone can go to Mint, and to Arch only with the understanding of "why do you need this". First it is better to sit on Mint, and only then, if you wish, go to Arch. I speak as a person who has been on Mint for 8-9 months and switched to Arch half a month ago.

When I started using GNU/Linux, I originally wanted to go for Linux Mint. Unfortunately, I still needed Windows, and I had limited space on my hard drive, so I ended up using Debian instead, which is still pretty easy to use.

I'm personally downloading ubuntu on a flash drive for a portable minecraft server
Pop OS is the greatest of mint it is built around Debian and Ubuntu but more polished and better looks than mint
arch based distros are much easier than arch
arch lwk butt.. thats why i use mint
I chose zorin os then Kali Linux then parrot OS then endeavour os then arch

Used mint until the fact the kernel is 2 years old started being a huge problem, the switched to cachyos lol
But then they switch to arch anyway

Pov linux newbie me: arch will be the best for first time and installing it taked my 1 day atlest 12hrs but it is the best i think 😅

Nawh, i did my fair amount of research on picking a before switching to linux, (fedora 44 workstation)

Linux mint is atrocious! Really… I enjoy Arch
